Evelyn R. Connor, 85, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 23, 2009.
She was the beloved wife of Marshall W. Connor. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 10th.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Bertha K. and John M. Rineer.
Evelyn graduated from the S. Horace Scott Senior High School, Coatesville, PA, in 1941.
She was a 49 year member of the Grace United Brethren Church of Coatesville, followed by 25 years as a member of the Olivet United Methodist Church.
She worked as secretary at the Republic Service Management Corp. and at the Brandywine Valley Fabricators, Inc.
Evelyn was recently recognized for her 35 years of volunteer service with the Meals on Wheels Program. She was an active member of the Caln Civic Club for many years and served as treasurer. She was also a member of the Coatesville Senior Center and participated in many of their activities.
Evelyn enjoyed family vacations at Ocean City, NJ, and traveled extensively with her husband, visiting many European countries, Australia, New Zealand, and across the United States. They especially enjoyed a trip to Romania for a concert tour with the Coatesville Choraliers.
Evelyn was known for her kind heart, generosity, and hospitality. She never missed the opportunity to send cards to her family and friends.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended every sporting event, concert, or special activity for her daughters and grandchildren. She was their biggest fan. Evelyn delighted in her family and was so proud of them.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three daughters: Pamela Walsh, wife of Joseph, Penny Brinton, wife of Michael, and Patty Biffen, wife of David. She was the grandmother of Joe, Kelly, Jennifer, Jason, Kate, Kelsey, Cara and Corinne and the great-grandmother of Emily, Seamus, Carter, Taylor and Kaiden.
She is survived by her sisters: Nancy Doughty, Natalie Sigle, and Betty Lou Groff, and a brother, John Rineer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, at Olivet United Methodist Church, 310 E. Chestnut Street, Coatesville. Family and friends may call on Monday, April 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the Garden Room of Olivet United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
