Peter A. DiMaio, 84, of Coatesville died peacefully Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Brandywine Hospital with his family at his side. He was the husband of Anna DiVincenzo DiMaio with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Born in South Fork, PA, he was the son of the late Nicola and Josephine Bananno DiMaio. Pete was a 1944 graduate of Coatesville High Coatesville where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Pete began his career as a tailor with his uncles at DiMaio's on 3rd Ave. and Chestnut St. He then worked as a manager for 13 years at Adelizzi Brothers of Narbeth. He operated DiMaio Tailors and Dry Cleaning from 1977 to 2007. Pete was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church where he was an usher. He was a member of the LGM, the VFW and he enjoyed bowling. Pete helped to organize the CYO basketball and softball league; as well as the Coatesville Midget football league and he umpired baseball games. Surviving him, in addition to his wife Anna are two sons; Mario P. DiMaio of Philadelphia and Peter M. DiMaio of Thorndale; two sisters, Mary Procyson and Rita Armentrout and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 20 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville. In his memory, contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320.
