Betty M. Willmott, age 84, of Honey Brook, and formerly of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Hickory House Nursing Home, where she had been a resident.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late John T. S. and Dorothy Fry Gentry, and the stepdaughter of the late Robert J. Warden.
She was the beloved wife of the late Howard L. “Bud” Willmott, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2001.
A 1958 graduate of S. Horace Scott High School, Betty was employed by Pepperidge Farm prior to starting a family. At the age of 50, she returned to school to earn her certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) and went on to work at the former Brandywine Hospital until her retirement.
Betty was a devoted member of both Modena Presbyterian Church and later Doe Run Presbyterian Church. She was also an active member of the Modena Fire Company. She found great joy in teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and took pride in serving as a caregiver for two of her grandchildren. Betty also had a deep appreciation for American history and loved reading in her spare time.
She is survived by her children: Howard L. Willmott III (Donna), Steven J. Willmott, Timothy W. Willmott, and Dorothy R. Willmott; eleven grandchildren: Kristin Book, Christopher Weber, Daryan Willmott, Austin Willmott, Clinton Burkman, Casey Petersheim, Eric Burkman, TJ Willmott, Evan Willmott, Jenna Willmott, and Landon Willmott; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her brother, Robert T. Warden (Linda).
