Charlotte Jane Townsend ”Janie” ,72, of Coatesville passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones on March 22, 2023.
Janie was the wife of Artemus “Dennis” Townsend, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.
Born March 31st ,1950, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Charlotte Hiddleson. She was a lifelong resident of Coatesville, graduating from CASH, class of 1968.
Over the years, Janie worked as a Quality Control inspector. In the community, Janie was known as a second mother to many. Her door was always open and she made sure EVERYONE was fed!
Janie’s Girls were her world, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apples of her eye.
Janie loved her family, friends, Kenny Rodgers, and HER Philadelphia Eagles. She enjoyed cooking, crime shows, and took great pride in taking care of her home. Dennis and Janie always had their porch PASSIONATELY decorated for EVERY occasion!
In addition to her husband, Janie is survived by her four daughters – Linda Taylor (Howard), Charlotte Townsend (John Hanaway), Jennifer Lewis (Vincent), and Melissa Townsend; 7 Grandchildren – Brittany, Kyle, Kyara, Taysha, Carlos, Jay-lynn, and Ava; and 3 Great grandchildren - Anthony, Kylie, and Charlotte. Additionally, her furry and feathered children – Harley and Captain. She is also survived by two siblings, a brother and a sister; and her lifelong very best friend, since the 7th grade – Helen “Jakey” Tolley.
In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Richard “Dickie” Hiddleson.
Janie’s LOVE will be surely missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville where relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
A celebration will follow the services at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave, Coatesville PA 19320
