Deborah Ziegler Obituary

Deborah Ann (Ohar) Ziegler, 75, of Coatesville, PA, passed away with her closest loved ones around her after a 3-year battle from Ovarian cancer at her home on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Born on August 27, 1950 to the late Peter Ohar Sr., and Theodosia Fannie (Fortock) Ohar, Debbie attended Caln Elementary and Middle Schools and was in the first graduating class of CASH.  She worked at many places including Jamesway, Phillips Apparel, Bell Telephone, Wyeth Labs, National Bank of the Main Line, Fulton Bank, and retired after many years at Citadel Federal Credit Union.

Through every appointment, every setback, and every painful moment, we were so proud of how hard she fought, and she did it all without a single complaint. She carried herself with such grace and courage, always putting the needs of others before her own.  She felt safe, loved, and she cherished her family and Zig deeply for it.  In his care, she found comfort, and in her love, he found his purpose.  But nothing lit up her world more than her grandchildren. To them, she was "Mimi," and they were her greatest joy, her pride, and her whole heart walking around outside of her body. She loved shopping with them, singing and baking together, and filling their lives with laughter.

Debbie poured her heart and soul into making things special, whether it was putting together the perfect birthday gift, embellishing a card, or adding those unique, thoughtful touches that only she could. We are eternally grateful for her love, her strength, and the beautiful example she set for all of us.

In addition to her loving, and devoted husband, Harold L. (Zig) Ziegler, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage, Debbie is survived by her daughter, Holly Ziegler Lerch, (wife of Brent), Gap, PA, and son, Lance Ziegler, Coatesville, PA;  her 6 grandchildren, Brenna, and Alanna Lerch, Haley, Brooke, and Peyton Ziegler, and Trey Tobinus.  She is also survived by her twin sister, Deanna Ohar Florian (wife of the late Gregory Florian), two brothers Danny Ohar Sr. (husband of Patty), and Peter Ohar Jr. (husband of Veronica), her sister-in-law, Pattie Ziegler Ripley (wife of Robert), and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews who she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Debbie was predeceased by her youngest sister, Linda Ohar Scamuffa (wife of Tommy), her in-laws, Lewis and Lottie Ziegler, and brother-in-law, Lou and Margaret Ziegler and her niece Donna Michelle. (Ohar) Smith.

Debbie also enjoyed attending and watching her grandchildren’s sports and also her husband coach his Coatesville High School baseball games.  She loved cheering on his team from the outfield wearing her Red and Black Coatesville gear.  She was one of their biggest fans!
