Dr. Robert A. Insalata, 84, passed away peacefully at Chester County Hospital in hospice care on February 4, 2022.
Born on June 23, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Antoniello Insalata and Louise Simili Insalata of Italy.
He was the husband of the late Bridget Caridi Insalata with whom he shared 43 loving years of marriage.
“Doc” loved caring for patients with both medical acumen and a great sense of humor. He had a thriving medical practice in Thorndale, PA for 44 years, treating patients from 1968 until his recent retirement in April 2021. He earned his medical degree from Flower and Fifth Avenue New York Medical College and completed his residency in Philadelphia.
Doc was passionate about big game hunting and traveled to Africa seven times. He was very proud of his trophies and adventures, and shared trips with his wife and friends.
He was a proud veteran of the Korean War where he served as a doctor.
Surviving him are his daughter Dr. Katherine Boutry, his stepdaughter Lisa Ammon, Pharm.D, his grandchildren Maximilien Boutry (24), Penelope Boutry (22), and Amelie Lily Boutry (17), and by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nino Insalata and Mario Insalata.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2022 at 11 a.m at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville where relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
