F. Breuninger Obituary

F. Frederick Breuninger, 91, a lifelong resident of Coatesville, died March 8, 2017. Born on September 1, 1925, He was the son of Frank A. and Beryl W. Breuninger. Fred is survived by his wife Dorothea (Sally) H. Breuninger with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. He is also survived by their four beloved sons, Frank (Chip) F. Breuninger, Jr and his wife, Maureen; David F. Breuninger; Robert H. Breuninger and his wife, Kim; and James M. Breuninger and his wife, Julie. Fred is also survived by his much loved grandchildren, Julie Regenski and her husband, Joe; Kathleen Morris and her husband, Erik; Shari Anne McDermott and her husband; Alex; Emily Breuninger; Andrew Breuninger; and Colleen Breuninger. He also adored his 6 great- grandchildren Ryan, Landon, Elin, Brady, Laney and Avery. He was preceded in death by their infant daughter, Jill; his sisters, Louise Berryhill and Elizabeth Taylor; and his beloved grandson, Christopher.
Fred graduated from Coatesville High School and Pierce Business College. Founder of Breuninger Real Estate and F. Frederick Breuninger & Son Insurance, Inc., he began his business career in 1947 as an apprentice with the A.R Yearsley Agency and opened his own agency in 1949 providing Real Estate and Insurance services to the community. Fred always said he "sold houses to families who turned these houses into homes". In addition to being a licensed Real Estate and Insurance Broker; he was a licensed Real Estate Appraiser for various local and national banks, PennDot, PA Department of Forestry and Waters, Chester County Airport Authority, local attorneys and private property owners. He was a Past President of the Chester County Board of Realtors, Vice President of the PA Board of Realtors and Vice President of the Delaware Valley Board of Realtors. Fred also served as Chairman of the West Caln Township Planning Commission.
Fred was active in civic affairs where he served as President of the Coatesville Library, the Coatesville Lions Club, served on the Board of Directors of the Coatesville YMCA. He was a member of the Coatesville Rotary Club and recipient of the Joseph G. Filoromo, Jr Community Service Award from the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce in 2014. He was a member of the Brandywine-Goddard Lodge #383 and a Life Member of the Washington Hose Company.
A prolific gardener and nature loving sportsman, Fred enjoyed everything about the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish in the woods, fields and streams of Chester and Clearfield Counties. An avid and accomplished golfer, who was a 76 year member of the Coatesville Country Club, he served on their Board of Directors and as President of the Club. He was also a member of Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, SC.
A member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Fred sang in the choir for many years and was known for his beautiful tenor voice.
He liked people and they felt his warm-welcoming personality. He was one of those people you liked from the moment you met him. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend; who will be sorely missed by many.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville. Visitation with the Family will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday at the church.
In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the "Under the Roof" campaign of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville, Pa 19320.
