Harold Yost Obituary

Harold L. Yost, 88, of Denver, PA and formerly of Coatesville passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was the husband of Anna Pavelik Yost, who preceded him in death in 2013 having shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late George and Laura Hall Yost.

Harold was employed as a lubrication mechanic at the former Lukens Steel Company retiring in 1998 with 38-1/2 years of service. As a member of the United Steelworkers Union #1165, he served as a shop steward. 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of New Holland upon moving to Lancaster County in 2008 and was a former member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd of Coatesville. 

He was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the City of Coatesville Authority, Public Water & Sewer Service.  While serving on the Coatesville City Council in the 1980’s, he was instrumental in establishing the curbside recycling program.  On April 25, 1987, he was the recipient of the Chester County Council Labor Leader Award.  He was also a member of the West End Fire Company and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Surviving him are two daughters, Debra Reiter (Charles) and Linda Tonkinson; a son, David (Sonya) Yost; six grandchildren, Dana L. W. Stevens, Katerina A. Tonkinson, Cassandra Karimi, Jarad Yost, Daniel Yost, and Michael Reiter; and five great grandchildren, Alexis Reiter, Pia Reiter, Michael Reiter, Christopher Stevens and Holly Karimi.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Farra; and four brothers, Clyde, Edward, Jerald and George Yost.

Funeral services will be private.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
