Joyce A. (Godschall) Moore, 82, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Home in Narvon, PA.
She was the wife of Kenneth R. Moore, with whom she would have shared 62 years of marriage on August 25th.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Clyde E. and Anna Matejkovic Godschall.
After graduating from S. Horace Scott High School in 1960, Joyce was employed at the VA Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed time at the beach, needlepointing, reading, card games (especially pinochle) and puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed the Christmas holiday. Joyce loved decorating for the holidays, playing Christmas music, wrapping countless gifts, and reciting every word to A Christmas Carol. Joyce was thoughtful and caring, and being able to give to others brought her great joy.
In addition to her husband Ken, Joyce is survived by her two children; her son Scott Moore and his wife Trish of Middletown, DE and her daughter Natalie Burns and her husband John Burns, of Wilmington, DE, and 4 grandchildren: Alex, Kerry, Steven, and Jillian.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Godschall and her older brother, Clyde Godschall, Jr.
Joyce was loving and caring. She was incredibly intelligent and had a biting wit. All that while struggling for years with mental and physical challenges, which ultimately lead her to Zerbe Sisters. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the entire staff of Zerbe Sisters for the wonderful love and care they provided in these last months.
Per her wishes, no public services will be held, but the family will hold a private celebration of life later this month.
In her memory, donations may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
