Louis J. Filippone

Louis J. Filippone, 89, of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday morning, March 11, 2021, at Paoli Hospital. 

Louis was born on June 17, 1931, the youngest of six siblings and the last surviving child of Luigi and Catherine Filippone. 

He attended Coatesville Area Schools; and after graduating from Scott Senior High School, joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS O'HARE and the USS Pickings. 

Following his discharge from the military, he attended Villanova University and majored in electrical engineering.  He began his career as an electrician at the Coatesville VA Medical Center where he met the love of his life and future wife, Betty Shade.  They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. 

In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by his two daughters, Catherine Filippone and Melissa Falvo (Tony); grandson, Alexander Hayes (Alyse), granddaughter, Ava Falvo and grandson, Ace Falvo. 

Lou was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Justin Hayes. He is also survived and will be dearly missed by his large extended family and many friends. 

Lou was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of his treasured Our Lady of the Rosary Church.  He was also a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and belonged to the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

During his long and distinguished career as an electrician, he was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  He will be forever remembered for his kindness, his compassionate generosity, his unfailing good humor and his quick wit.  He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word and loved by all who knew him.  We are grateful for his legacy, his time with us, and the blessing that was his life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., March 19, 2021 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville,

where relatives and friends may pay their respects from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m.

Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville.

In his memory, flowers, Mass cards, or donations to Our Lady of the Rosary Church will be welcomed by the family.
