Martin Flynn Obituary

Martin “Marty” Francis Flynn, Sr., 92, of Coatesville passed away on January 7, 2022 at Harrison Senior Living, Coatesville.

Marty was the beloved husband of the late Hazel Nafe Flynn with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.
Marty was born in Perryville, Maryland on March 20, 1929.  He was the son of the late John Flynn, Sr. and Mary (Duffy)Flynn.  Marty was preceded in death by his brother, John “Jack” Flynn, Jr.
Marty was a 1948 graduate of Scott High School where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. After high school, Marty attended the New York Military Academy and was inducted into NYMA Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
Marty worked at the Philadelphia Electric Company for 40 years.  The achievement he was proud of was co-founding the Coatesville High School Sports Hall of Fame with Gene Burnite with help from Rich Como and Ross Kershey.
Marty is the father of three children; Martin F. Flynn, Jr. and his wife, Sharon; Gerald Flynn and his wife, Judy; and his daughter, Deborah Barlow.  Marty had five grandchildren, Shannon, Danielle, Rory and Meghan Flynn; and Cory Brown.  Marty also had six great grandchildren Jeffrey Flynn Bakowski, Tyler Flynn Bakowski, Frank Linley, Jordan Flynn, Riley Springer, and. Olivia Springer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022 at St. Joseph Church, 404 Charles St., Coatesville, where relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.
