It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of MATTHEW J. DEJULIO, JR. age 76, a resident of East Fallowfield PA on Easter Morning 2025. Matt was the beloved husband of Patricia DeJulio and a brother to John (Elizabeth) and Thomas (Rosemary). He was also the devoted uncle to niece, Litsa DeJulio, nephew, Timothy (Abiola) DeJulio and children and grandniece Anna.
Born in Mount Vernon New York, Matt was predeceased by his father, Matthew J. DeJulio, Sr., his mother, Anna (nee Malfettone), and his older sister, Elaine.
Matt received his B.A. degree from Fordham University in 1970 and his Masters degree from the Annenberg School for Communications at the University of Pennsylvania. He began his professional business career in 1972 as the Marketing Director for Ames Publishing supervising a staff of 35 involved in all areas of business-to-business publishing.
After Ames Publishing was acquired by Chilton Company in Radnor Pennsylvania in 1980, and before retiring, Matt completed 18 more years as the company’s Business, Advertising, and Promotions Manager.
Matt loved history, particularly where he lived in Society Hill and served more than 15 years as Administrator and Historian for the Society Hill Civic Association (SHCA) and its bi-monthly publication of the Society Hill Reporter. He was also responsible for producing and publishing the first Guide to Historic Society Hill and leading the annual Society Hill Open House Tours for two decades.
Always available and reachable to help others, Matt was the BEST FRIEND of his many friends who remember his caring, loving, and thoughtful ways. But not all knew his full range of talents, as a philatelist and as a painter of beautiful flowers with the most vibrant of colors that jumped off the frame, like a 3D image. He was a sensitive human being who appreciated artistry in all its forms and expressions.
Matt also adored all animals, especially dogs, and participated in dog shows for many years and considered them to be live “Art-Pieces”. His first “dog portrait” dating back to the late 1960’s, was a Rottweiler painted for its owner and boss at his first job at a Print Shop in Mount Vernon.
A BRILLIANT man, Matt will always be remembered as one with a wide range of knowledge of every subject, but also one with the humility and eagerness to learn more.
Truly Matt was A GOOD GUY who will be sorely missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville, PA. Relatives and friends can visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.
