Merle Winters Obituary

Merle C. Winters, 95, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania died on March 27, 2022 at his home at Freedom Village.   He was the husband of Elizabeth Lemheny Winters with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.  He was also the husband of the late Pauline McAllister Winters.

Born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Oliver and Lydia Winters.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Galen and Donald Winters.  He was a graduate of Manor High School, Millersville, Pennsylvania.

He was employed for 37 years as a Maintenance Superintendent for National Rolling Mills-Worthington Industries in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #383, Rajah Temple Reading and the Reading Consistory for 20 years.  He was of Christian Faith and a member of the Brethren Church.

He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed reading and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by three daughters; Sandra Garrison (Stephen) and Cheri Hepfl (Gary) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and Peggy Markealli of Elkton, Maryland.  He is also survived by three step-daughters; Anne Sheppard (Hal Real) of Wilmington, Delaware, Eileen Leypolt (Ed) and Eleanor Schwandt (Fred) and was a grandfather to 8 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and step grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville on Monday, April 4, 2022 where friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be private at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
