Michael J. Townsley, Sr., of East Fallowfield passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Paoli Memorial Hospital. He was born and raised in the Coatesville area.
Michael married his high school sweetheart, Bambina (Bambi) Porreca in 1962. They were happily married for 62-1/2 years. His parents were Robert W. and Catherine C. (Butler) Townsley.
Michael graduated from Scott High School, class of 1959 where he served as Vice President in both his Junior and Senior years. He loved sports and lettered in football, swimming and baseball. After graduation, Michael joined the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and was stationed at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, VA.
Michael worked for Lukens Steel Company and retired in 2000 after 36 years in the Metallurgical Quality Control Department and was a member of the Lukens Veterans Guild. After retirement, he worked for the Harris Mountain Funeral Home in Coatesville and Wegmans in Downingtown. He was also a past President of the Coatesville Area Jaycees; and a member of the East Fallowfield Township Zoning Hearing Board. As a life member of the Modena Fire Company, he volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician and served as membership secretary. Michael was a Campaign Member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. As a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed golf, ice hockey, football and being outdoors doing yard work.
In addition to his wife, Bambi, Michael is survived by two children, Michelle J. (Townsley) Sheeler of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Michael J. Townsley, Jr. (Jacqueline) of West Caln Township, PA; six grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) Sheeler, Abigail Sheeler, Annalise Sheeler, Jessica (Gary) Powell, Michael (Shelby) Townsley and Matthew Townsley and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Parker Powell. He is survived by his brother, James N. Townsley of Honey Brook, sister-in-law, Priscilla Moore of Honey Brook and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Carpenter of Downingtown and Kathleen Coldren of Sadsburyville; and a son-in-law, Jeffrey Sheeler of Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Avenue, Coatesville. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Harris Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville and also from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, June 23 at the funeral home.
