Nancy Kessler Hollister passed away April 9 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She died at her residence in Freedom Village with family close by.
Born and raised in Altoona, Pa., Nancy graduated from Hahnemann School of Nursing in 1960 and settled into her career as a registered nurse in the pediatric unit at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville.
After retiring, Nancy continued in medicine, volunteering with Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), which provides care to those in need. She loved gardening, traveling with friends, playing cards in her card club of several decades, spending time with her granddogs, and indulging in her love of ice cream, often handmade. Most great family memories involved a good dish of ice cream. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, searching for golf balls, and the quiet at the family cabin. In her later years, she was an avid 76ers and Phillies fan.
Lastly, her Hopewell United Methodist Church family meant the world to Nancy, where she was actively involved, especially in her younger years.
She is survived by daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Todd. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and their son, Jeff, and three family dachshunds.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 852 Hopewell Road, Downingtown, Pa, 19335.
