Onzelle V. (Vick) Barber

Onzelle V. Barber, 92, passed away January 25, 2024; the day after her birthday, at Hickory House Nursing Home, Honey Brook.  She was the wife of late George L. Barber who preceded her in death in 1985.

She was born Ola Ruth “Onzelle” Vick in LaRue Texas and was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Senie Gracey Vick.

She was a Christian woman and an active member of Thorndale United Methodist Church enjoying working with the afternoon circle, Ladies Auxiliary the other groups she participated in, VFW Post 845 and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 249.

Onzelle was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the greatest champion possible for her children.  It was well known by friends of the kids, the Barber house was the place to go for the best meals, snacks or drinks. She provided more gratis grandchild babysitting hours than one could count. Mom loved to bake, her long list of Christmas Goodies like dozens of cookie types, poppyseed and walnut rolls were known far and wide.

Surviving Onzelle is her brother Henry E. Vick.                                

Three children; son: George O. Barber, wife Mary Ann Barber, son: Darryl N. Barber, wife Payton Barber and daughter: Judy K. Albright.

Eight grandchildren: Karen, Holly, Onzelle, Justin, Chad, Jordan, Savannah and Christian.

13 great grandchildren: Tara, Nathaniel, Joshua, Daniel, Julianna, Gabriel, Jaiden, Paige, Maycie, Gavin, Owen, Mackenzie and Norah.

2 great, great grandchildren: River and Ariella.

Preceding Onzelle in death is son-in-law, Roy “Eddie” Albright husband of Judy; grandson, Joshua Cory Barber plus six sisters: Lillie May, Estelle, Gladys, Loretta, Gracie, Beulah and a brother, Elvin Louis.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville.  An Order of Eastern Star service will take place at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.   Visitation will also be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery Coatesville, PA.

Mom leaves a void in our hearts and will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
