Rhoda Dalton Obituary

Rhoda Pearl Dalton, 100, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully, August 1, 2025.

Born at home in Sadsburyville, Pennsylvania, she was the second child of the late Hayes Todd Pfitzenmeyer and Eva Earnshaw Pfitzenmeyer. She was the widow of John Joseph Dalton and was also predeceased by her sister, Hazel Pfitzenmeyer Stansbury, and a brother, Hayes Todd Pfitzenmeyer, Jr.

She began her career as an executive secretary at Lukens Steel before becoming a devoted homemaker to raise her son, Joe. Ever the adventurer, she traveled the world prior to her marriage, visiting destinations such as Cuba and embarking on road trips with friends. Later in life, her travels continued even more broadly, taking her to many places around the globe. She enjoyed playing golf, doing needlework, and reading, and she remained active throughout her life. A woman of faith, she was a member of Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania before moving to Virginia to be closer to her family. As a mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her unwavering devotion, expressing her love through her words, routines, habits, and the way she allowed her world to revolve entirely around her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph Michael Dalton and wife Anne; grandchildren, Jack Dalton and Matthew Dalton; nieces, Mary Margaret Stansbury Poole, Candace Stansbury Ross, and Lezah Stansbury Dowhower, as well as extended family in Pennsylvania.

A Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025 at St. Cecilia Cemetery, Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA
