Robert D. Allen, 78, of King of Prussia, a retired computer engineer, died unexpectedly on February 21, 2017 while on vacation in Florida.
Bob was born in Denver, CO, on November 10, 1938, to Verna Saltzman Allen and Jack Allen. After graduation, he spent 7 years in the Navy in support of missile guidance, which started his career in design and development of computer systems.
Bob was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of the Sports Car Club of America for 41 years. He competed and volunteered in many events over the years. He found a little piece of paradise in his retirement when he visited his cabin by the lake in Red Feather, CO.
Bob is survived by his partner, Joan DeCarlo Cox; his son, David; his stepdaughters, Trish Reed, Cindy Morgan, Julie Burke, Lori Riley; and stepson, Craig Riley; his three granddaughters and three grandsons; his sister, Ione Brunt; and his brothers, Anthony and Donald Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Angeline Allen; and stepson, Vince Eck.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E Lincoln Hwy, where relatives and friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.
