Robert Collins Obituary

Robert Lee Collins, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Chester County Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Born and raised in Coatesville, PA, Robert was the son of the late Hampton Lee Collins and Pauline Ficca Collins. He was the husband of Linda Hughes Collins, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Graduating from Scott High School (‘55), he was known as “Hot Rod” by his friends for his love of cars. That love of cars carried on with him through his entire life, working as a mechanic when he was younger and then becoming a member of the Active A’s later on in life. His pride and joy was his 1929 Model A Ford Sedan, which he enjoyed working on, and keeping in tip top shape. Along with taking it to antique car club meets, even winning a couple of trophies along the way with Team Scamuffa. His favorite past time, besides his car was woodworking with his best buddies, meeting up each week to work on ideas and create beautiful pieces of woodwork. He loved making items for his loved ones, from beautiful bookcases, picture frames, cutting boards, to working clocks. Which we will all treasure dearly.

He loved spending time with his loved ones, family outings, dinners and just having his great grandchildren stop by. And of course, his weekly lunch outings with his buddies.

Robert was employed for 34 years in the postal service, starting as a carrier and ending with his retirement as Postmaster of Kennett Square Post Office. He then when on to work a few years at the Wine and Spirits Store, and finally retiring for good after working 10+ years at Wegman’s.

In addition to his wife Linda, Robert is survived by his children: Greg Collins, Kathy Hanthorne (Dean Hanthorne); Karol Collins (Greg Vietri) and Annmarie Inthaphone. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Stephanie (Roland), Joshua (Natalie), Nick (Nisha) and Celina. As well, as his 5 great-grandchildren: Neyalie, Giovanni, Avianna, Natalya and Nicholas Jr.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister: Marlene Ambroziak.
