Robert B. Swisher of Coatesville PA sadly and unexpectedly passed away, on Thursday June 8th, 2023 at his son’s home in New Jersey. Unfortunately, he had struggled over the recent years with many health issues. Now though, he can rest peacefully and pain free. He was only 67 years old but he lived passionately. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
Robert was born on September 25th, 1956 in Downingtown PA to Leroy Howard Swisher and Dorothy Ann Davis. He attended Downingtown High School and graduated in 1974. Shortly after graduating he started his 24-year long career as a caring nursing assistant, at the Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville PA.
Robert was always known as ‘Bob’ to all his family and friends, even from a young age. Bob was an extremely passionate person about most things in life, but his biggest love was for the Music. He absolutely loved attending concerts. If he liked an artist or group, he would travel miles just to see them perform.
His second biggest admiration, though, was always for sports. Of course, he was a loud and proud Philadelphia sports fan. He enjoyed watching his teams play, but his all-time favorite was the Philadelphia Flyers. Hockey season was his most favorite time of year.
Bob had such a love for all animals; he was always so gentle and caring with them and enjoyed their company the most. They always seemed to make him smile in any situation. He showed this even more so with his multiple exotic birds he owned and cared for over the years. It goes without saying, that he poured all that kindness into his career at the hospital as well. He was a natural with the patients and enjoyed being able to help them during their visit there. He was always extremely devoted to their wellbeing. Caring for the patients meant a great deal to him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Sharon L. Swisher of Coatesville PA.; His two sons, Robert B. Swisher (Lindsay) of Westville NJ; Ryan T. Swisher (Danielle) of Blackwood New Jersey; and his grandson Tyler A. Swisher of Downingtown PA, as well as three stepsons (Jacob, Josh, & Justin) and three step-grandchildren (Jacob Jr., Jenna, & Dylan).
Bob is also survived by his three sisters; Terry L. Thompson (Richard) of Olathe Kansas; Leann M. Flinn (Charles) of West Chester PA; and Susan Swisher Moore (Jeffrey) of Coatesville PA. He also had many nieces, nephews, and extended family members he cared for. He was preceded in death by his parents LeRoy & Dorothy Swisher.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville where relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 6 p.m.
In Bob’s memory, contributions may be made to City Gate, c/o Jim Davis, 2237 Strasburg Road, East Fallowfield, PA 19320.
