William L. Chalfant, 83, of Parkesburg passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Chester County Hospital.
Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Stern Chalfant. He was the husband of Shirley Corum Chalfant with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.
William served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp from 1963 to 1967. After his military service, he was employed as a truck driver for A. Duie Pyle retiring in 2020 having logged 2 million miles in safe driving with the company.
He was a member of the West Chester VFW #106 and enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was known as a quiet, self-sufficient man who provided for his family.
Surviving him, in addition to his wife Shirley, is a daughter, Sheila Hancotte and a son, William Griffith; six grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by a brother, Buddy Chalfant (Arlene); sisters, Judy Lynch, Arlene Ortlip (Michael) and Gladys Rauenzahn (Joe) and numerous nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Harris Mountain Funeral & Cremation Service, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville where relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in Hephzibah Cemetery, Coatesville.
