William (Bill) Gaugler Jr, 93 of Coatesville PA passed away Saturday January 10th, 2026 surrounded by family. Born in Graterford at home in June, 1932, he was the son of the late William and Sarah Rawn Gaugler.
He was a 1950 graduate of Schwenksville High School, and a 1954 graduate of West Chester University. He also earned a Master's Degree from Franklin & Marshall College. He was a dedicated teacher for many years in the Coatesville Area School District. During his teaching career he also was a coach for baseball, basketball and football taking many of the teams to undefeated seasons. Bill also served as head coach to the Coatesville Area High School baseball team. Bill was very dedicated to the children of the Coatesville area spending his time coaching baseball at Caln baseball fields & running and directing the summer parks programs at Columbia and West End Parks. He was instrumental in the construction of a well-used and much-loved indoor basketball court in the Martins Corner Firehouse. Many kids and adults benefited from his efforts.
Bill was also the Treasurer of the Martin's Corner Fire company for over 50 years. He received a Community Service Award from the fire company for his unselfish service to his community. He was very honored to be awarded the J. Malcolm “MAC” Stuber award for outstanding contributions to Coatesville High School Athletics and was inducted into the Coatesville Sports Hall of Fame in October 2015. He was an avid collector of stamps, first day covers and baseball cards. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially in the Summer on the beaches of Ocean City, NJ. where his infamous “ball roll” caught the attention of many a beach goer. In his final years, Bill loved and cherished his home and land, the woods of Martins Corner.
Bill is survived by his loving children, Deborah Gaugler Cash of Haymarket, VA, William Gaugler III and wife Bernice of Mann's Harbor NC, and Michael Gaugler and wife Patsy of Huntingdon, PA. His grandchildren, Luke Cash (Brefany), Sarah Davis (Chris), Erik Denk (Dorothy), Ben Denk, Katy Gaugler (Brandon), Mandy Gaugler, and Jacky Gaugler. Great granddaughters, Rose Davis and Eevee Everett. A brother Robert Gaugler and wife Sally, sisters-in-law Carol Gaugler and Nan Gaugler and several nieces and nephews. Bill also enjoyed the company and help of his caretaker for the last two years, Carol Trainer. He was preceded in death by his brothers Roy Gaugler and Ernie Gaugler.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Harris Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville where relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
