William J. Recchiuti, 87, passed away on July 29, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on February 29, 1936 (yes, he was a leap year baby), in Coatesville, PA, Will was was known for his love of the outdoors - an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and all-around nature lover. He was also known as one of the best mushroom growers of his era in the country. He was the head grower at Modern Mushroom Farms for over 30 years.
Will was a devoted husband, loving father and generous pop pop. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in providing for and supporting them. He instilled in them values of perseverance, curiosity, love of nature, and the importance of education. Will had a remarkable ability to teach his children how to think - not what to think.
An avid Catholic, he enjoyed participating in the Men of Malvern retreat annually. In his free time, Will enjoyed tying flies for trout fishing, carving lifelike ducks out of wood and fishing with his grandchildren. He had a zest for life and was often found out in the woods of Hibernia Park or French Creek. As a resident of the Tel Hai Retirement community, Will participated in many activities including pool (he was the champion of many tournaments), golf, pickle ball, softball, and water volleyball. His warm smile, sense of humor, and compassionate nature touched the lives of many.
He is survived by Marlene, his wife of 61 years; his son Fred; daughter Melissa Cellucci (John); three grandchildren, Kayla Recchiuti, Jack Cellucci and Samantha Cellucci; and a brother, John. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony and two sisters, Mary and Ann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023 at St. Peter Church, 3215 Manor Road, Coatesville. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville.
